In Search of the Northern Lights: ....like a broken tape on replay

Long departed from Calypso's shores
The spinning boat clueless on its course
The waters seemingly endless
No land in sight.....no destination in mind
Hearts too dejected to seek answers
The past....a broken tape on replay

Nightfall beholds us with visions
Screaming voices.....heartbreaking cries
Goddesses of the sea emerging from the waters
In the moonlight their beauty appears so alluring
Their transparent garments leaving us gaping
Their hands beckoning us....keying into an inner appetite for the divine
And the vision ends....starting allover again at the next nightfall
Like a broken tape on replay

By day we see her face.....
So real we can actually touch it....or so we believe
Tears streaming down from her cheeks....

Tears for her people.....for the destruction
Then our hearts break in return.....with arms outstretched to comfort her
And at that moment she steps away.....fading into the distance
Only to return the next morning
Like a broken tape on replay

Circling endlessly on this sea
These visions all offering pathways....crossroads
Sadly....this crossroads we've met before
The outcome bringing us to this point still
Leaving our heart in hopeless hope
To never return to this place again
Like a broken tape on replay....

Echoes from the heart: In the name of their 'god'

She set out to serve her fatherland
Laden with child…pain and discomfort she endured
Fighting for a nation’s dream – democracy
Till they came thundering
Almajiris…uneducated, incited and hungry bastards
Chanting words of Allah...a word they surely do not understand
Knives and clubs in hand
Slitting her throat in successive swipes
Carving her bulging stomach till the unborn comes gushing out
For them, a necessary sacrifice for the glory of their ‘god’

They said it was safe
They promised to protect
For once he chose to look past their incessant greed and believe
Men so selfish…they forget what duty and honor means
Until the fireworks went off
In pain his eyes endured this horrible movie clip
Limbs and torsos shredded
His life’s work….his perseverance….his patience
His love….his wife….his kids
Taken from him without a moment’s hesitation
All for the glory of their ‘god’

They call themselves nationalists
Elder statesmen…scoffs…more like deluded and poisonous extremists
Men with hate and low intelligence
Rousing an even more uneducated nation to violence at their failures
Making inflammatory remarks instead of spreading peace
Openly supporting terrorism and advocating for their protection
Holding this nation to ransom yet they claim to want to save it
The Rufs’ and Haris’
Hatching a grand plan to force the nation into religious slavery
All for the glory of their ‘god’

They say it is a religion of peace and tolerance
I’ll show you ingrates what tolerance is
Offering safety to your brothers in our homes while you decapitate ours
Leaving your place of worship standing while you burn down ours
Treating you with respect while you dehumanize us
Respecting your beliefs while you go witch-hunting ours
Then again, all this you do for the glory of your ‘god’

How long do you think this will continue?
For surely at some point….the commandment of love would fade away
Giving way to a hate beyond the dimensions of love
This forced marriage shall fall apart
The hunter metamorphosing into the game
In that moment, remember ye all you have done
For your sins shall never go unpunished
In our lifetime or those of your future generations!

In Search of the Northern Lights - On the Shores of Ogygia (The two pathways) II

Straddled between her legs
Her hands caressing my hair...
Fingers trailing fiery tracks along my chest...
Lips musing calmness to a rather stormy heart
Her mind beckoning mine to an inner world....
A world of bliss....of deep wisdom.....

Re-enacting the past.....
Flashing memories.....mistakes magnified
Regrets finally.....yes...regrets
The destruction I brought on the hinterlands......
Gradually eating through whats left of broken hearts
The curse of Poseidon still raging within their homes and within my hands
Rendering thoughts of any rescue to nought
Regrets and more regrets

What thus lies in the future...?
For this regret a thing too painful to move further with....

Then again, she shows me.....
Redemption only but a grasp away....
Far away from the hinterland....
Yet so close....can only be perceived by the minds of gods
RIddled with pain, denial....and ridicule
The floor to its path overlain by love......
Love so trampled on....and torn to shreds....but still lying in place
Offering its service.....no complaint slipping from its lips
Such a sad sight....a cause for sincere tears

And again, another supposed path to redemption
Filled with pleasures and happiness.....
Driving hearts to a drunken state to forever forget past pains
A new path....reflecting the lights of the sun
So beautiful....so alluring.....
Totally painless.....and still...redemption it offers....

A choice so easy in my childhood
Suddenly so difficult with age and supposed maturity
For what now.....losing the essence of who I know I am
Or to forever toil in pain....all in the name of love?

Then again, time dwindles....A painful smile streaked across Calypso's face
For she can only but show me these paths....
Where they lead and which to choose remain a burden for the captain alone
The dilemma of life.....Choices.....

Still waiting for acceptance.....
The two pathways to the future.....
For its now or never...!

In Search of the Northern Lights - On the Shores of Ogygia (Calypso) I

Drifting in and out of consciousness
Floating amid strong currents
Sharp streaks of the sun piercing through closed eyelids
Forcing an involuntary twitch
Eyes opening to a heavenly reality
For around lay an angelic vision
White rocks glistening at the sun as it caresses its wet body
Carved in sophistication....a structural enigma
Adorned with naked frames of seductive sculptures
One in particualar evoking a deeper attraction beyong what meets the eyes

He seemed like an object in the vastness of the blue sea
A tree trunk maybe....from a shipwreck
Forgotten....forlon
Till a tilt suggested life
Another torture from Zeus?
For even tho immortal.....goddesses fear heartbreaks
Commanding her minions....they dive in for the rescue
Water, food and wine ready....
A messenger off to Zeus
For unlike Odysseus...this one should stay

Panic sets in....
As sculptures take to life and head into the blue sea
Their silhouettes approaching pretty fast
Questions arising faster than answers came
Fear first.....then curiosity....then affirmation
'I am immortal indeed' *reassuring whispers*
Hence I fear not....for the gods I have fought and survived
Or did I?
Is this life....or that after death?
For surely these shores are not of this world
Surely....then again....

......to be continued

In Search of the Northern Lights - Lost in Limbo (A captain's plight)

Startled and awake....
Immersed in slimy mud.....
Wastelands and dumps all around me
Why am I here?
And like shockwaves....it all comes rushing back to me....

Why does it feel so quiet after a storm....?
That deafening silence.....more like a deep sense of hopelessness
For yes it was a storm
Tearing away my ship....my crew.....or did they dump me here?
For I see not signs of wreckage......
But still it was a storm.....for my ship is gone....my crew as well
My clothes.....my pride....my love
All have been stripped from me.....
My arms hardly providing warmth and cover from the cold and shame

Then again.....it was all the product of my folly
My misgivings, arrogance, pride and selfishness.....
For perhaps I could've thought of my crew....their persistent solidarity
Or her warmth...oh her warmth...*cringes*
The last look in her eyes that of desperation....disbelieve and yet there she lay
Watching as the last drop of her essence I wrecked.....
But I tried to save this didn't I? *in a fist of self pity*
Maybe.....but then it was too late......*voices in my head*
Maybe I did still....maybe...*in one last shred of confidence*

Suddenly its all over....
The burdens....the pain....the torture.....
But do I prefer the guilt and shame here now....?
Obviously not....for freedom never tasted this bitter
Or perhaps this ain't freedom.....?
For in these wastelands I remain lost
In this limbo......and freedom would only start when I crawl out of it....

But how?
